What's for: Directory of bookless libraries around the world.
Bookless libraries are libraries where phisical books are substituted by ebooks and readers can borrow an ereader rather than a paper book.
The US first public book-free library is set to open this fall in San Antonio, Texas. Serving residents of Bexar County, the new bookless library, called BiblioTech, will lend out e-readers for two weeks at a time.
These libraries will look like much more an Apple store rather than a bookshop.
San Antonio plans to create several book-free libraries around the country and into the suburbs. BiblioTech will occupy a prototype location on San Antonio’s south side.
As the cost of this library will be much lower than that of traditional libraries, they are going to expand to other locations very soon.
